PEER is available to all residents of nursing, personal care, assisted and independent living facilities. PEER educates residents on resident rights, provides self-advocacy training and empowers residents to act for themselves. Training is provided through the local Ombudsman office.
What is P.E.E.R?
Pennsylvania's Empowered Expert Residents (PEER) are long-term care residents who are trained to self advocate and empower their fellow residents to improve their quality of life and quality of care in long-term care facilities. PEER is a partnership beween residents, facility staff, and the local ombudsman.
PEER Philosophy:
Resident focused.
Give residents a voice.
Provide a connection with ombudsmen, volunteers and other PEERs statewide.
Provides residents with opportunities to stay productive and involved.
Honors PEERs through recognition events.
